Michael Hermoza

Michael Hermoza topped the field in Event 8 to take home the WPT Trophy and first-place prize worth $21,890. Here is what he had to say right after the victory: “I’m from Colombia, so I just traveled here to start living in New York so this is a very high experience. I played down in Miami, in the opening event I came 27th, so I see that it’s a very good tournament to play so I decided to come here to Tampa.”

“I actually knocked out seven players at the final table, and when it got down to three-handed play I had some really easy decisions most of the time. I did good things at the final table, I never felt too much pressure, I just won my hands and the ICM is very important in these situations,” said Hermoza when he was asked about his journey through the final table.

Hermoza also mentioned that he was inspired by his recent success at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open to make the trip down here to Tampa. “This whole chain of casinos are really, really good. Miami was amazing, and here the structure of the tournaments was really, really nice. I never felt the pressure of the blinds. It doesn’t matter what the price of the buy-in is, they do really good things. And know I’m going to play some more events,” said Hermoza.

Ardit Bitincka

Ardit Bitincka took home the WPT trophy tonight in Event 8 after the final three players decided on a chop to end the tournament. Bitincka took home his first tournament trophy and the top prize money worth $9,666. Here is what he had to say after the victory.

“It felt pretty good because I don’t usually play Omaha. I maybe play four or five times a year. I think I was running pretty good the whole time, so I felt pretty comfortable even though there were people that were much better than me at the table. It’s my first trophy, so I’m really happy. My birthday is this Thursday, so I think it comes at a pretty good time,” said Bitincka.

When he was asked about his journey through the final table, Bitincka had this to say: “I think at the final table I was just trying to wait out and see how the other players were going to play it out. I probably gave it about half-an-hour to see how everything was going to play out. And then I was getting a lot of good hands so I started pushing in and getting aggressive.”

“I like the selection of games here, even the games I’m not playing as much like HORSE and PLO, whatever it is. I busted out of the $600 No-Limit after a single hand today, and it was 50/50 between playing the next No-Limit event or this one. I flipped a coin, and it was this one. And even in the ICM we just did I flipped a coin, and it said to do the ICM. I won the flips. It’s really nice to offer these different type of events, because then you get the different type of players coming in, so I think it’s amazing,” said Bitincka when he was asked about the variety of games offered at this tournament series.
