“It’s great,” says Marv Karlins (Riverview, FL) who’s in the Flight F field, “they do a good job with these tournaments and take care of the players.”

100+ Flight F entries and counting pushed the total entries past 1,000 to hit the number.

“I hope to make it to day two,” adds Karlins, “and I’ve fired multiple bullets trying.”

Retired fire fighter Greg McNealy bagged the most chips with 333,000.  He earns the $1,100 seat in Event 9, $75k Guaranteed event on Sunday, June 8th.

June High Hand Poker Promotion

While the opening events of the inaugural Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Summer Poker Open tournament series are in full swing in the tournament area by the Rockin’ Pool, cash game action continues in the poker room.

Beginning on Sunday, June 1 through Tuesday, June 10, our High Hand Poker promotion will award EIGHT (8) $3,500 entries into the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Summer Poker Open Championship (Day 1A on June 12, 2014) daily to High Hand winners from $2-$4 Limit Hold’em and higher games*.

One (1) High Hand will be awarded each hour beginning at 12PM daily (and will continue until all eight (8) $3,500 entries have been awarded).

Qualifying High Hands:
In order to qualify for the High Hand, a minimum of four players must have been dealt into the hand and the jackpot dollar must have been dropped.

  • Hold’em and Stud:  Aces Full of Tens or better
  • PLO and Omaha:  Four-of-a-Kind or better

*$1-$1 No Limit Hold’em and $1-$5 Stud live action games High Hand winners will receive $300 in chips.

Cards are flying for the sixth and final flight of the $300,000 Guaranteed Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Summer Poker Open kickoff event.

This is the last chance players have to get into this event.  They can register and re-enter until the start of level 7 (about 10:30pm).

Flight E is in the process of counting and bagging their chips.  The leaders will be reported shortly.

E1d1e 350 DS NL rBefore the blinds went up, James Puritz (left) got his short-stack in pre-flop holding KsQs and was in very bad shape against Giancarlo DiSalvo’s QhQd (right).

Then the flop fell 8s4s2s giving James a flush and leaving Giancarlo looking for runner-runner.  The last two were 3c8d and changed nothing.

James took the pot to survive, chipping up to ~55k.

Players are back from their last break of the day with just two levels left to play.  Now it is a sprint to the finish to see who will earn the end of day chip leader and earn the $1,100 seat in Event 9 ($75k Gtd) on Sunday, June 8th.

Only 99 remain of the 344 that entered this flight.  Average stack is almost 87k.


Event 1: First to a Quarter-Million

Michael ThieleMichael Thiele (Ocala, FL) was the first player in this flight to reach a quarter-million chips.  He was just over 260,000 during the previous level, but has dropped back back below that benchmark.

When his table broke, Roman Federov and his big stack landed on the right of Michael, so we’ll be watching for potential fireworks with two big stacks on that table.

Tables are breaking FAST and this one will be the next to break, so the big stacks may get split up.

Only 13 tables remain with fewer than 117 players left in this flight.

Event 1: Prieto Catches On River

Stuart PrietoJust before the break, Stuart Prieto opened for 4k and got a  call from the big blind.  On the Jack-high flop, Stuart bet another 4k and got check-raised all-in for 16,625.

Stuart made the call, showing AQ for two overcards.  His opponent held J5 for a pair of Jacks and the lead.

Stuart got lucky, catching the ubiquitous Ace on the river to take the pot, sending his opponent to the rail.  Stuart chipped up to almost 90k.
