Paul DeRosa is a regular of the Tampa room who hails from nearby South Pasadena, Fla. He had taken some time away from the felt, but a difficult set of circumstances brought him back to the Seminole Hard Rock poker room to play in his daughter’s honor.

Not long ago, DeRosa’s daughter, Savannah, was involved in a car accident in which the vehicle she was riding in overturned five times. She broke her neck and had numerous other fractures throughout her body. While she was in recovery, DeRosa took family medical leave from work to be by her side. With the WPTDeepStacks in town and with his daughter’s condition improving, DeRosa decided to come try his luck on the poker table with one caveat — all of his winnings would go toward her medical bills.

DeRosa has done Savannah well to this point. He finished 44th of 698 in the $570 opener pocketing $1,536. A few days later he made another deep run finishing 11th of 495 in the $350. All told, he’s pocketed $3,452 and hopes to add to that total here in the Main Event.
