After raking a pot worth about 600 big blinds roughly 45 minutes ago, Carl Carodenuto is one of the most recent eliminations here in Flight C of the Winter Poker Open Championship.

The action is unclear, but Carodenuto’s seat was recently discovered to be vacant. A quick glance revealed Josh Lowing, who previously sat to Carodenuto’s direct right, enjoyed a stack of about 80,000.

“He gave them all to me,” Lowing said as staff passed by the table.

In the context of today’s sporadic play, one might doubt Carodenuto’s poker prowess. However, the Bloomington, Minnesota resident boasts a poker resume second to none at the mid-stakes level — specifically in the last 12 months.

Almost exactly one year ago, Carodenuto finished seventh in this very event earning $25,000. In the months since, he’s recorded four $1,100 MSPT Main Event final table appearances including three victories. Those scores alone account for nearly $375,000 in earnings.

For now, his run at a follow-up final table here in Tampa is on hold.
