Matthew Larson

Time is running out to build a bag in Flight D. The field is back from the final break of the day and three more levels remain in action.

It’s a pretty tight race near the top of the counts. Matthew Larson had the biggest break stack with 174,000 but Wilfor Maraentes Pinto’s 173,000 was only a single 1K chip behind. Rounding out the close stack is Jeff Trudeau Jr with 170,000.

Event 1 Flight D: Jeff Trudeau Jr Cracks Aces

$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 11:  1,000/1,500 with a 1,500 ante
Flight D Players Remaining:  63 of 173

Jeff Trudeau Jr

In a three-way pot with the flop reading KdJs9s, the big blind player bet 7,000 and Jeff Trudeau Jr called in the cutoff. The button player moved all in for 23,000 to get a fold from the big blind and quick call from Trudeau Jr.

Trudeau Jr: QsTs
Button: AhAs

Trudeau Jr flopped a king-high straight against the rockets to leave the button drawing thin. The Qc turn gave Trudeau Jr’s opponent three outs to a bigger straight but the 9c river kept Trudeau Jr in the lead for the knockout.

Ronald Johnston

While players were gone during the break, we took a walk among the tables to look for some big stacks. It took a moment to duck around the purple chip color up but we found what we needed.

Ronald Johnston of Port Orange, FL was the leader and his 129,000 stack was the only over 100K. Ivan Freitez Rosales was second with 96,000 and a few more were creeping up to six-digits.

Event 2 Flight D: Last Level to Register

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8:  400/800 with a 800 ante
Flight D Entries:  163

Justin Zaki

Level 8 is here and that means time is running out to join Flight D. They will run through this 30-minute level, take a 15-minute break, and registration will close around 3:34 pm.

Justin Zaki was a late entrant and one of the more talented players in the field. Of his $2.5 million in career earnings, he picked up another nice cash this summer with a $2,650 SHRPO Big 4 final table appearance in Hollywood.

Another new face is Manny Minaya, also coming off success at our sister poker room. He was in Hollywood last week and finished first out of 337 entries to win their $150 Big Stack that also included a WPT seat for the victory.

Event 2 Flight D: Halfway Home

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6:  300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight D Entries:  150

Jeff Morzella

The entry count hit 150 in Level 6 to put the tournament halfway to the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. That’s a good start with huge crowds expected for this evening’s flight and Saturday morning.

A few more familiar faces are here including Jeff Morzella, Jeff Trudeau Jr, Bryce McVay, Ok Haselton, and Jennifer Haselton.

Event 2 Flight D: Jason Parson Leads

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 5:  200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight D Entries:  125

Jason Parson

The first break is complete and we found a couple of early frontrunners in the field. Jason Parson was the first break leader after four levels, up to 80,800 coming back from the first break. He will be one to watch going forward.

It looks like the second-biggest stack belongs to John Haas as the April Saturday Triple 30 winner is up to 65,100.

There’s still plenty of time to catch either player with late registration available until ~3:30 pm and Flight D running through Level 14.

Event 2 Flight D: Vitor Coelho Trying to Break Through

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3: 100/200 with a 200 ante
Flight D Entries:  97

Vitor Coelho

Flight D is nearing triple digit entries and will be the biggest flight of the tournament so far by the time registration closed.

Vitor Coelho is here early and trying to win that first SHR Tampa guitar trophy. Despite big success elsewhere, including tournament wins in Hollywood and Atlantic City plus a WPTDeepStack win in Jacksonville (and more than $1,000,000 in career earnings), the Tampa resident has yet to win a tournament on his home turf.

This would be a good one to get.

Event 2 Flight D: Anthony Dianaty Dips and Doubles

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 2: 100/100 with a 100 ante
Flight D Entries:  62

Anthony Dianaty moves all in

We caught the action in the middle of the room with the board complete and reading 8h6h2dQc5c. Anthony Dianaty was facing a 7,000 river bet and he moved all in for 9,700. His opponent quickly called and they flipped up their hands.

Dianaty’s opponent showed 8d8s for a flopped set of eights but Dianaty was best with his 9d7d for a rivered nine-high straight. The full double pushed Dianaty back over a starting stack, the right direction early in the day.

Dianaty is in contention for the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year. He picked up his points thanks to a third place finish in the Tampa Pinktober Main Event for more than $42,000.
