James Keating

The popular Seniors Event on the Tampa Poker Classic schedule kicked off on Monday morning and James Keating captured the crown 12 hours later after a five-way deal saw him earn $6,068 along with the $2,200 TPC Event 12 seat.

The $250 special event drew 216 entries to put $44,280 in the prize pool, more than quadrupling the $10,000 guarantee. The last 22 players earned some money with the bubble bursting shortly before dinner break.

Keating was among the leaders at the start of the final table and we the top stack when Tamra Piderit was eliminated in sixth place. The last four players decided to split the remaining prize pool right down the middle with Keating’s chip lead earning him the title, the trophy, and the big game seat in TPC Event 12.

Sylvia Bernstein

It took a while to burst the bubble and they nearly rolled into overtime for the dinner break. But with a minute remaining in Level 16, we had two all-ins called at two tables.

On Table 11, one player moved all in for 30,500 and Sylvia Bernstein called in the small blind to put him at risk.

Bernstein: 4s4c
Opponent: Ah9d

It was a race and Bernstein’s fours held as the board ran out 8h8d5sJh3h. The all in player was eliminated but needed to wait for action on the table.

With the flop reading Jc6s3s, Tamra Piderit moved all in for 68,500 and her opponent called.

Piderit: KhKd
Opponent: AcJs

Piderit was ahead with her over pair kings but needed to fade the top pair/top kicker of her opponent. The Ts turn and Kc river finished the board and Piderit made a set of kings to double on the bubble.

The field played one more hand before tournament staff sent them on a 30-minute dinner break.
