The Winter Poker Open H.O.R.S.E. tournament had a fantastic turnout with 88 entries packing one side of the Poker Room. The last nine spots were paid and Sam Sternfield took the top prize of $7,390 after an outright win at the final table.
Sternfield is a familiar face in our sister Poker Room in Hollywood but made the cross-state trek for some mixed games. This was his second great result in a Tampa H.O.R.S.E. tournament after a runner-up finish in our WPT Tampa version in June.

Flight B went a little longer than Flight A and they made it into Level 16 before the money bubble burst. And when it did, it was not boring.
On Table 21, the cutoff player jammed with his short stack and the button called. Lawrence Cowsar in the small blind reshipped from the small blind for 166,000. The big blind player decided to come along for the ride and the button folded for a three-way all in.
Cowsar: Small Blind: Cutoff:
A huge blind v blind spot with Cowsar having both players covered. The board ran out and Cowsar sent two players out on the bubble.
But wait, there’s more. Chris Perry was also all in on Table 11 facing elimination with against . It was a race to start but Perry found a favorite flop to make quads and lock up a bubble double in a hurry.
Ivan Yatsuk bagged the overall lead with 563,000 followed by Savahn Steadman with 508,000 and Antoinette Fiorezna’s 445,000. Flight A’s bubble Jim Collins had a strong bounceback and finished with 415,000.
