Below are the final results from Event 4 of the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Poker Classic, a one-day $300 buy-in Omaha 8 tournament that concluded Monday, February 25th
2019 Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Poker Classic Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, Florida Event 4 $300 Omaha 8 (Re-Entry) Entries: 71 Prize Pool: $17,750 February 25, 2019
The first non-hold’em game on the Tampa Poker Classic produced a great turnout, as expected when Tampa sees an Omaha game. The $300 Omaha 8 game attracted a big 71-entry field and Shawn Pratt earned his first title after the dust settled.
The tournament produced a $17,750 prize pool and the last eight players would make some money. That meant the ten final table players still had some work to do. Michael Steckler and Greg Masterson tried their best with very short stacks, made the final table, but fell short in ninth and tenth places.
Pratt was second in chips to start the table behind only Michael Dreese. The chip leader could not turn his advantage into a title, dropping in fourth place.
Platt ended his Monday night with an Omaha 8 win for $5,643. This is Platt’s second-biggest score behind a third-place payout in the $150 event during the 2017 Summer Little Slick Series.
After a long slowdown 11-handed, the Omaha 8 tournament made the final table with ten remaining. Michael Dreese is the big stack starting the action with Shawn Platt his closest competitor. Greg Masterson and Michael Steckler are very short but found doubles to stick around.
They still have a little work to get done with only eight of the ten getting paid, that should not take too long from this point.
We will provide a final tournament recap complete with details and results on Tuesday morning.
Seat 1: Shawn Platt – 133,000 Seat 2: Alex Saidenstat – 40,000 Seat 3: Yao Zhao – 82,000 Seat 4: Michael Dreese – 191,000 Seat 5: Daniel Martinez – 101,000 Seat 6: Aubrey Gilbert – 120,000 Seat 7: Karen Longfellow – 80,000 Seat 8: Greg Masterson – 8,000 Seat 9: Bryce Fox – 79,000 Seat 10: Michael Steckler – 18,000
The Omaha 8 tournament continues to pull in great numbers, further proof that Tampa loves the game. We have 50 entries in Event 4 after the first hour and the back of the poker room is filling up on a Monday afternoon.
We have a few friends in town from the other side of the Sunshine State trying to take a guitar trophy home with them. Carey Pickus has some H.O.R.S.E. success with two third-place finishes in back-to-back years at the SHR Hollywood RRPO series. So she knows her Omaha and split pot games.
Cards are in the air for Event 4 in the back of the poker room. Tampa loves its four-card poker and that was evidenced when we have more players at the start of this tournament then the $570 Event 3 kick off.
But both will continue to build and registration is open until 4:30 in the Omaha 8 game.
