Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of Year points leader David Prociak

Second in points, Timothy Miles

The WPTDeepStacks-Tampa Main Event marks the last Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year points-eligible event before the $5,000,000 guaranteed Championship this August. The 10-tournament contest has been a two-horse race for much of the year with David Prociak and Timothy Miles always near the top of it.

As is, Prociak leads the way claiming an impressive 686.2638 points. That number puts him a bit ahead of Miles who claims 512.9075 and sits second.

Both players are in action here in Tampa looking to pad their total. For Miles, he’s already on entry number two after his aces were cracked in a three way pot at the end of Level 3. Prociak, meanwhile, has been firmly in his seat since cards went in the air just about two hours ago.

The SHPR Player of the Year earns a tournament buy-in and travel package valued at $44,000. Additionally, the top 20 points earners get a piece of the action.

The complete prize lists and details are posted at HardRockPoker.com.

Wally Maddah

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Tampa ambassador, not typically one to take part in the morning flights, is one of the tournament’s newest entries. Preferring the 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. start days, Maddah is cornered in the WPTDeepStacks-Tampa Main Event. He bit the bullet and made his way to the Seminole Hard Rock and has chipped up just slightly during the early stages of his Main Event run.

Players are in their seats and Level 4 is freshly underway in the WPTDeepStacks-Tampa Main Event. Leading the way is Jim Seaver who sits on a stack of 81,000. Seaver, largely in part to the hand he played against Brian Reinert right before break, has more than tripled his holdings and now tops the counts early in play.

One of the other larger stacks in the room belongs to Joel Gossett. Gossett isn’t quite in Seaver territory, but he sits on a healthy 65,500.

The flop laid Qd6c4d and an early position player checked. A middle position player made it 400 and Jim Seaver called behind him. WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year contender Brian Reinert was in late position and he called as well. The early position player made it four ways and it was off to the turn.

Fourth street fell the Ah. The early position player checked. The middle position player continued for 600 while Seaver made it 1,500 to go. Reinert called and the remaining players folded. Seaver and Reinert were heads up.

The river completed the board with the 8s. Seaver bet 5,500. Reinert thought for 30 seconds or so before he called. Seaver promptly flipped over 7d5d for a rivered straight. Reinert reluctantly folded and surrendered the pot.

Undeterred by the long hours, both are in their seats, smiling and chipping up well before today’s first break.
