Anthony Astarita was having a pretty good run on Day 2. And then he had his kings cracked by 7-6 to leave him short.

Soon after, he moved all in from early position for 72,000 and the move made it around to Julio Marrero in the small blind. He called and Ahmad Hamoush released his big.

The final tournament on the WPTDeepStacks schedule closed out the series with another great turnout. Event 5 drew 115 entries to the $250 buy-in Turbo tournament to surpass the $20,000 Guarantee.

They combine to create a prize pool worth $24,150 and the tournament will pay out the last 15 spots. A min-cash will walk away with $543 and the Event 5 will earn $7,125 plus the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Guitar Trophy.

The Main Event dropped down to the last four tables shortly after the second break and we grabbed the lineup as Table 14 spread its players among the others.

Both Rex Clinkscales and Anthony Astarita are alive for a second title along with Quentin Jones and Andrew Pacifico who earned their seat via a prelim win.

Quentin Jones might have the best return-on-investment in the field so far and that’s better than some who used a satellite to get.

Jones won Event 3 heading into the Main Event, taking the top prize of $31,987 along with a seat in the $300,000 headliner tournament. He played Flight A on little sleep, bagged up 175,000 and is now up to 385,000 with 42 players remaining. He’s guaranteed at least another $2,690 but has the chips to take it higher.

Our long bubble is finally over after 14 hands, 28 minutes of clock time, and one hour of real time.

Anthony Astarita opened to 13,000 from middle position and Barry Wiedmann called on the button. Michael Newman moved all in for 19,000 from the big blind and picked up calls from both players.

Then they waited.

Waited for the other tables to finish their action before running the hands where there was another all-in called.

Astarita and Wiedmann checked down the board and Newman gave the table a little smack. He flopped an open-ended straight draw with but never got there. Wiedmann took the pot with against Astarita’s .

On the other table, Roberto Mello open-shoved for 12,000 and Merlin Schenk called from the big blind.

Mello was ahead for the double and dodged the flop. Schenk paired the and Mello was eliminated after the river for the double knockout.

Due to his (slightly) bigger stack, Newman was awarded 78th place money while Mello was the bubble boy.
