The Turbo format kept things hopping, even at the final table. On the second hand after they got settled, Kostas Papastavrov open-shoved with 6d5d and Johnny Pappas called on the button with AdQh.

Papastavrov’s live cards went away on the Qc3d2h flop and he was left with a gutshot. He missed the Js turn and Kc river to be our first gone from the final table.

$150 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em Turbo (Re-Entry)
Level 20: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

In the money

The Turbo event quickly played down to the money bubble and it took just three hands to get the rest of the way. Wally Maddah put them in the money when his small blind KsJd was good against William Linderman’s QxJx when the board ran out KdJc8h2d9d.

The field actually lost two players on the hand but it was Linderman’s bigger stack that gave him 27th place money.

Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers, Johnny Pappas, and Cheri Beatty joined Maddah in making the money. With the average stack hovering around 10 big blinds, this is going to move along quickly.

2015 WPO Turboooo

Registration has closed for the Turbo Event 8 and they pipped it up a few entrants from last week. Where this tournament drew 199 entrants this past Sunday, today we have 202 entrants in the field.

A fine showing for a Sunday afternoon.

Of those 202 starters, less than 80 remain after the break and we expect the action to be move at a brisk pace throughout.

Another good reason for a Sunday afternoon Turbo, besides the obvious value, is the second chance opportunity for those who fall short in the multi-day field Event 7.

We’ve seen players bust out of that event and immediately jump into Event 8. The format dictates that it won’t last into the wee hours of the morning and also allows players a chance at the rare double cash day.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah and fun-time AJ “Doc” Santos both cashed in Event 7 (Maddah in 47th, Santos in 38th). Now they’re in the Turbo looking to add another cash to their bankroll without ever leaving the property.

The Turbo event is shaping up to have another nice turnout for some Sunday afternoon poker. Last week’s version drew 199 entrants and we have over 150 in the game with two more levels of late registration to go.

We ran into Cheri Beatty catching a big double/knockout and asking “where was this yesterday (in the $560)?” She’s run her stack over 80,000 and in good position for the long haul.

Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers, the holder of mass poker knowledge, is back in action today after falling short in Event 7. He took a break last night, enjoyed a Tampa Bay Lightnings game, and firing into the Turbo event.
