Jeevan Nomula (fresh off an eighth-place finish in Event 3) leads the way with 91,800 with Mohamad Alhalwani in second with 75,7000 and Amie Martini is not far behind with 71,200.

We are rolling into the last weekend of the Pinktober Poker Open and today we have the second of three flights of the Championship. The $1,100 buy-in tournament drew 87 entries in Flight A and the $200,000 guarantee is within easy reach with two big flights to go.

Players start with 30K deep stacks and all last 40 minutes until they reach the final table. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 5:45 pm. Flight B will continue until 12.5% of the field remains and those players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday at 11 am in the money.

Shane Melert went big late in Flight A and finished his night leading the Championship. After the last break, he doubled through Bo Gray and increased his stack to 545,000 for a healthy lead over second place Denis Ramic’s 383,000.

Flight B gets underway on Friday at 11 am and the last flight goes on Saturday at the same time.

Championship Day 1A: Ami Rubin Eliminated by Stephen Brite on the Bubble

Stephen Brite

After a long bubble, Stephen Brite opened to 65,000 from the button, Ami Rubin shipped for about 100K from the big blind, and Brite snapped a call.

Brite had pocket aces against Rubin’s pocket eights and they held to burst the bubble with 11 players remaining. The rest of the field is in the money and will return on Sunday for Day 2 at 11 am.

The slowdown finally hit and players are taking their time with money on the line. They reached 12 players and are currently playing hand-for-hand until one player is eliminated, with two minutes coming off the clock for each hand.

Bo Gray

The last break rolled around with the field very close to the money bubble. Only 13 players remain and 11 will move on to Day 2 but it should really slow down now. The average stack is 50 big blinds and hand-for-hand is coming up.

Bo Gray is the latest to take the top spot, sitting with 334,000 and Daniel Zappulla is not far behind with 290,000.
