On the last hand before the color up break, action folded to Fred Cabral in the hijack. He moved all in for about 900,000 and Kevin Ragusa moved all in over the top from the cutoff. The buttons and blinds folded and we saw the cards.

Ragusa: AdKs
Cabral: 9d8d

Ragusa was ahead but Cabral had two live suited connectors. Both players paired the Kd8c2c flop and Cabral made two pair on the 9h turn. His joy was short-lived with the river came 2s to counterfeit his two pair, Ragusa took the pot with kings and deuces to send Cabral out in 13th place.

Kevin Ragusa – 3,725,000 (47 bb)
Fred Cabral – Eliminated in 13th place ($13,700)

Howard Feingold was down to 690,000 and open-ripped from early position. It folded around to Fred Cabral in the big blind and he called.

Feingold: AhJc
Cabral: 4d4c

Feingold needed to improve to double up and he caught a jack on the Jh7h7s flop. No sweat on the Th turn and Ah river for another double in the Main Event.

Howard Feingold – 1,500,000 (19 bb)
Fred Cabral – 900,000 (11 bb)

With a lot of money in the future, the last two tables came to a standstill with a lot of tanks and uncalled shoved.

Until Nick Agnew open-shoved for 550,000 from the button and Fred Cabral looked him up after thinking a few minutes.

Agnew: Ah9d
Cabral: 8d7h

Agnew was ahead but had some live cards to dodge to double. He did more than that when he flopped trip aces on the AsAd2h board. It finished 7s and 4h and Agnew had a needed double.

Nick Agnew – 1,220,000 (15 bb)
Fred Cabral – 2,100,000 (26 bb)

Michener: AhQd
Thivyanathan: TsTd

It was a race and Michener needed to improve to double up. The Jc7h2h flop and 3c turn changed nothing but Michener paired his queen on the Qc river for a huge double.

Bates checked, Ragusa continued for 375,000 and Bates called. The turn was 7s and Bates moved all in for 1,070,000. Ragusa took several minutes to think it through and called with the bigger stack.

Ragusa: KsKc
Bates: AdKd

Bates was caught and needed an ace on the river to stay around. It was a blank Ts and Bates was a shocking exit after dinner while Ragusa took a big lead.

Frank Weigel

On Table 21, Frank Weigel got his 410,000 stack in the middle against Peter Vitantonio looking for a double.

“I slammed it in,” Weigel told the room. “Slammed with capital letters.”

Weigel: AcKd
Vitantonio: AsJc

Weigel was in great shape to hold for a double and improved on the KcTd9s flop. The dealer finished it off with the Th turn and Kh river to send Weigel the double.

Weigel finished 82nd in this year’s WSOP Main Event and challenged us to find someone in the room that went deeper. We’re checking the Black Chip Bounty event for Jeff Trudeau Jr.

Peter Vitantonio – 250,000 (8 bb)

Main Event: Two Out for Tommy Bates

Tommy Bates

With a lot of chips in the pot and the board reading 9d2d2s5d, Tommy Bates put his last 530,000 in the middle and Robert Michener snapped in a call to put Bates at risk.

Bates: JdJs
Michener: 9c9s

Michener out flopped Bates with his smaller pair with a boat with nines full of deuces and Bates was left with two outs on the river.

Bates jumped out of his chair when the Jc came on the river for a bigger boat and he celebrated before stacking up.

“With play like that, it’s no wonder you run poker rooms,” Howard Feingold joked with Bates.

Tommy Bates – 1,630,000 (54 bb)
Robert Michener – 775,000 (26 bb)
