Look good, play good.
Tampa’s Anthony Dianaty came to this Saturday session in his Sunday best suited up and ready for a long day of poker. Dianaty has put together a string of results lately, carding cashes, final table appearances and multiple wins in 2019. With $276,000 in career earnings, another top score in this WPTDeepStacks Main Event would move him over the $300,000 mark.
Midway through Level 2, the clock shows 160 Day 1C players in action. The combined field now sits at 500, only a few shy of the $500,000 guarantee.

A surprise to no one, Day 1C of the WPTDeepStacks Main Event is off to the strongest start of any of the start days. The clock shows 123 registered and they have all the way until 6:30pm local time to continue to fire into this tournament.
A big prize pool enticed the defending champion to return to the game. After busting Day 1A, Quentin Jones took yesterday off. It’s the weekend, though, and he’s back entered and another title defense is underway.

Saturday play in the $1,100 buy-in, $500,000 guaranteed WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event gets underway at 11am. This marks Day 1C of the series finale and the last of three starting flights. With a total of 340 entries in the first two starts, just 176 are needed to beat the guarantee and that number is expected to be easily eclipsed with a big weekend crowd.
As they did in Day 1A and Day 1B, Day 1C players begin with 30,000 chips and will log 15, 40-minute levels. Registration and re-entry are available all the way until about 6:30pm, so there is plenty of time to get to the Seminole Hard Rock and get in the action.

Day 1B of the WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event wrapped just moments ago with 34 of 185 starters advancing. There are a number of notables that found a bag including the new overall chip leader Daniel Chalifour.
Chalifour put a hurt on the Friday play multiplying his 30,000 starting chips into 533,000. That puts him head and shoulders above the rest of the field as he’s the only player that tops a half-million.
Others advancing include Alex Kimpel in second with 436,000, William Medina with 374,000, WSOP gold bracelet winner Jonathan Hilton with 283,000, back-to-back runner-up in this event Michael Cohen with 114,000 and Brian Reinert with 69,000.
Full chip counts through Day 1B will be posted by 1am local time.
Those unable to find a Day 1B include 2016 champion Anthony Astarita, Karl Manouchakian, Tom Nguyen and Marvin Karlins. Each of these players are able to get back in the action for tomorrow’s Day 1C. Play begins at 11am with registration and re-entry available all the way until ~6:30pm.
Tournament updates will begin again Saturday with the restart of play.

Back-to-back WPTDeepStacks runner up Michael Cohen is running hot again. He recently busted his neighbor to the right and now starts Level 15 — the final level of the night — with over 300,000 chips. That tally has Cohen among the biggest stacks in the room and he’ll be trying to chip up and bag huge with less than 40 minutes left in the day.
