Farrell Finds a One Outer

We heard lots of groans and shots coming from one of the front tables. We found Skip Farrell (pictured) scooping a pot and doubling up on a board of 7-3-2-Q-3 with K-Q-3-3, good for quad threes.

Farrell got all in on the turn against his opponent who showed Q-Q-J-6.

“He hit a one outer after having a bigger set blocked and getting all in on the turn,” said one of Farrell’s tablemates.

Farrell doubled up to 13,000 in chips.

Mauro Gets Aces to Fold

On a flop of Kh9h3c, a player from early position bets out and Mauro (who doesn’t want his last name on the blog) announces pot and puts out roughly 6,000 in chips. The early position player goes into the tank before flicking his cards a few times, exposes AsAh and folds.

“Good fold,” says Mauro as he tables half of his hand, the 9s3s, before folding. “I had more outs than that.”

Mauro is sitting with just over 13,000 in chips.

Novo Triples Up To Take Chip Lead

After hearing the word “raise” and “pot” several times, Julio Novo (pictured) got all in against two other players on a flop of 9d4h3c.

“I guess, I’m dead,” said Novo. “I need a queen.”

Novo tabled QsQc9s3d, giving him top and bottom pair and an overpair. He was up against Kd7h6h5c, good for a wrap straight draw, and QhJc4s4c, good for middle set.

“Or a nine,” said Novo as he sees that he had two more outs than he originally thought.

The turn is the 9c and Novo makes a full house and leaves one opponent drawing dead and the other needing to find the case four in the deck. The river is the 7d and Novo scoops the pot and climbs to 34,500 in chips, easily the biggest stack in the tournament at this time.

Vasapole Cracks Aces and Doubles

Brandon Vasapole (pictured) was committing the last of his chips to the pot on a flop of KcJh9c and got action from the player to his left.

Vasapole is in the lead with his KhJd6c5c, giving him top two pair and a flush draw, but needs to fade a lot of cards against his opponent’s AcAsTc4s, which is good for a pair of aces, a gutshot straight draw, and then nut flush draw.

The turn is the Th and the river is the 3s and Vasapole scoops the pot  with two pair to double up to 15,000.

“That’s a good turn card for you,” said a player who was just sitting down after late registering the event to the player who lost the pot.

Another player at the table explained to the player that he lost the pot because he must use only two cards from his hand and three from the board.

“Whatever, I’ll just keep playing my way,” replied the new player.

Santos Taking a Swing at PLO

Adam Santos, who was our one time chip leader in yesterday’s second flight of the $560 No Limit Hold’em has taken a seat in tonight’s $210 Pot Limit Omaha event.

He’s off to another good start as he raises to 350 under-the-gun and gets four callers. The flop is As5h4d and after both blinds check, Santos announces that he is betting the pot. Everybody folds and he scoops the pot. He is sitting with 14,500.
