Winter Poker Open winners Eric Wert and Anthony Pellegrini took their shot in yesterday’s Flight B. Wert came up dry, but Anthony Pellegrini found a bag and earned a day off. Today, another Winter Poker Open champion is among the field.

John Pappas is a regular of not only the Tampa room but of most South Florida tournament series. He’s amassed nearly $115,000 in career earnings and earned his lone victory in Event 8 of the 2015 WPO — a $150 Deep Stack Turbo tournament. Pappas maneuvered through a field of 202 entries in that tournament and claimed the top spot and $3,485 following a four-way deal.

He is back in action here in Flight C and among those vying for a piece of what will surely be a prize pool greater than $100,000.
